Getting There
New Bern sits on the coast, two hours from the nearest large airport and about ten minutes from a small one. That gives you three reasonable ways in, and which is right depends mostly on whether you’d rather pay for the convenience or drive for it. All three are below, closest first.
Three Airports
EWN
About 10 minutes to the venue
200 Terminal Dr, New Bern, NC 28562
Coastal Carolina Regional Airport
Two gates, one baggage carousel, and you are downtown before your bag stops spinning. If you can make the connection work, this is far and away the easiest way in — several of our guests will be walking to their hotel from the curb.
- American Airlines (nonstop to Charlotte) and Breeze Airways (twice-weekly nonstops to Orlando and Hartford)
- Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National, all in the terminal
- Uber and Lyft both serve the airport
The catch is size. There are only a few flights a day and most route through Charlotte, so seats and rental cars go early — book this one well ahead of the others.
OAJ
About 50 minutes to New Bern
264 Albert J Ellis Airport Rd, Richlands, NC 28574
Albert J. Ellis Airport
A small, easy airport serving Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune, about forty miles down the road. Worth checking whenever the New Bern fares or flight times don't line up — the extra drive is short and uncomplicated.
- American (nonstop to Charlotte) and Delta (nonstop to Atlanta)
- On-site counters — you will want a car for the drive over
- About 40 miles, roughly 50 minutes
RDU
About 2 hours 30 minutes to New Bern
2400 John Brantley Blvd, Morrisville, NC 27560
Raleigh-Durham International
The region's major airport, with every large carrier, nonstops from most of the country, and fares that are often meaningfully cheaper than the regional options. The trade is the drive: roughly 130 miles, and there is no train, bus or shuttle worth taking. Plan on renting a car.
- American, Delta, United, Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska, Frontier and others
- Every major company operates at RDU. Reserve well ahead — it's a wedding weekend in June and the counters do run dry
- About 130 miles, mostly a straight shot east on US-70 through Goldsboro and Kinston
If you fly into RDU, come in the day before. Two and a half hours of driving on top of a delayed flight is not how you want to make a 3:00 PM arrival.
You Will Want a Car
Downtown New Bern is genuinely walkable — the hotels, the restaurants and most of what there is to do sit within a few blocks of each other. Getting to those few blocks is the problem. There is no airport shuttle, rideshare coverage outside downtown is thin, and the venue is a short drive from the historic district — so unless you’re landing at EWN and staying downtown, rent a car.
Book it when you book the flight rather than after. Early June is the start of the coastal season, and the New Bern counters in particular hold a small fleet that sells out.
Routes, carriers and rental counters above were checked in August 2026 — a good while before the wedding, and airlines rearrange small-airport schedules more often than that. Worth confirming before you book.
Once you’ve landed, the next thing worth sorting is a room — we’ve held blocks at four hotels near New Bern. More details on the weekend itself come with the formal invitation.
However you come, come early.
